Please Don’t Turn On Instagram Post Notifications
I took this picture in my office this afternoon. Please don’t turn on post notifications. Not for me, and not for anyone else, either.
This is a really interesting situation for me, because while my business and voice exist primarily online, I’m not going to encourage my supporters to be progressively more hooked in the social media torrent. Turning on notifications only increases the amount of bings and beeps and popups on your phone, and one of my first recommendations to people who want a healthier relationship with other humans as well as with their phones is to turn OFF all notifications. So while I want people interested in my message to see it, I don’t want them to see it at the expense of their own physical and mental health.
If you’d like to see my content, the best way is to 1) like or comment on my Instagram posts, and 2) sign up for my newsletter. And if, instead, you choose to spend less time on social media and improve your life offline, both of our Instagram accounts will be just fine.
